Business Opportunities in South East Asia

As part of European Business Network’s mission to offer more international business opportunities to EBN Members and client companies they just announced that EBN has been invited to join an EU co-funded project, called (SEBSEAM-M) “Support for European Business in South East Asia markets - Malaysia Component”

The Coordinator is the EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Robert Sanders represented EBN at the Kick Off Meeting which took place end November.

The project aims to contribute to increase trade and investment flows between the European Union (EU) and Malaysia, and ASEAN - with special attention to SMEs in EU.

The project will last 5 years, and some B2B events, partnership opportunities, and study tours in Malaysia will be proposed to the EBN Network.

Main Project Activities:

· Advocacy: Policy dialogues, position papers, working groups, networking events and formal and informal lobbying

· Business services: Project and market intelligence reports, web portal set up for business services, IPR and Standards Help Desks, road shows in EU and trade fairs in Malaysia and ASEAN, European Business Point.

· Capacity Building: Webinars, seminars, workshops, formal training and skills programmes in EU-Asia trade issues

· Trade and Investment: Targeted and sector specific Trade Missions in EU, B2B especially for the selected key sectors and innovative project partnerships.

Expected Results:

· Better market access for EU SMEs in potential sectors via multilateral advocacy platforms.

· Improved facilitation of EU-level business support services and increased business leads for EU SMEs via effective promotion in Europe.

· Increase in horizontal communication channels for EU SMEs to have better access to local and regional market information.

· Strengthen the service delivery framework provided by ASEAN-wide business network and existing European business support organization for EU SMEs in Malaysia and ASEAN markets.
