Naranya Ventures Call: Startup Labs Mexico

Startup Labs Mexico is a three week program providing seed capital, mentorship and technical support to teams in an effort to help validate their team and business model to later stage investors.

The goal of the program is to help early stage startups succeed and accelerate their growth with capital and support from influencers. Startup Labs Mexico will provide:

· A really cool network of high-profile mentors from Mexico, Latin America and United States and other entrepreneurial hubs around the world.

· Seed capital.

· Lighting fast capital and introductions allowing teams to build.

· Accelerators with teams based on their enrollment schedule.

· Intros to angels, VC’s, accelerators strategic partners.

· Intros support for teams to enter foreign markets with trusted partners.

· Feedback for startups on their product and direction.

Startup Labs contributes one third of the capital to all five teams, institutional investors such as Investomex and other local VC funds contribute one third of the capital and local angels contribute the remaining one third of the capital needed. They believe it takes a village to support a startup and having buy-in from these three groups of investors means teams will have access to them and will have an easier time raising capital going forward with an existing working relationship. When teams raise future rounds, Startup Labs will contribute a kicker for 20% of the round. They stand behind the teams they are creating and don’t expect future investors to risk their capital alone. The goal of Startup Labs is to roll this out in many markets, much like it has done with Startup Weekend events.
